Dear parents and teens,
The Archdiocese of Seattle will be hosting the annual Catholic Youth Convention (CYC) at the Washington State fairgrounds November 12–13, 2016. This gathering is a wonderful opportunity for youth from around the Archdiocese to grow closer to Christ, deepen their knowledge of the faith and grow in fellowship with one another. Last year, nearly 1500 youth participated in this gathering, some even travelling from as far as Canada and Oregon.
Throughout the weekend, students will have the chance to listen to inspiring Catholic speakers Jackie Francois-Angel, Bobby Angel, Cooper Ray, Sarah Kroger and Fr. Bryan Dolejsi. CYC is filled with faith-filled adults and youth who will keynote throughout the weekend including our very own Fr. Kyle Manglona. Archbishop Sartain will be one of the keynote presenters and spending time with the youth through leading a time of Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. Youth will have opportunities for Reconciliation and Mass. Throughout the weekend, youth will attend workshops and prayer experiences, mingle with other Catholic youth and be invited to grow as disciples of God.
Parents, please consider sending your youth to the Catholic Youth Convention 2016. CYC can be a truly powerful experience that will help our youth develop a deeper connection to Christ and grow as active participants in the Church.
We hope you will join us this year for another successful Catholic Youth Convention.
Theme of Reckless Mercy:
Through this Jubilee Year, Pope Francis has been clear of each person’s call to be an agent of mercy. The theme for the 2016 High School Catholic Youth Convention challenges us to respond to that call, to lead lives of mercy with no limits, reaching beyond borders, and to be instruments of mercy. Pope Francis challenges us to listen and respond to the following, “Jesus is inviting you, calling you, to leave your mark on life.” WHAT WILL YOUR MARK BE?
